Paddle Review: The Selkirk Vanguard Power Air – Is It Worth the Hype?

The Selkirk Vanguard Power Air paddle has been generating a lot of buzz in the pickleball community, and for good reason. It’s designed to offer a blend of power, control, and feel, making it an attractive option for players of all levels. As a 50+ player, I was particularly interested in how this paddle would perform in terms of providing power without sacrificing control, which is crucial for maintaining consistency and preventing injuries. After several weeks of testing, I can confidently say that the Vanguard Power Air lives up to much of the hype.

One of the standout features of this paddle is its ability to generate power with minimal effort. The sweet spot is generous, and the ball seems to jump off the paddle face, making it easier to hit deep shots and put away overheads. However, what impressed me even more was the level of control it offered. The paddle provides excellent feedback, allowing me to place my shots with precision and finesse. This is particularly important for dinking and soft game play around the net, where touch and accuracy are paramount.

Overall, the Selkirk Vanguard Power Air is a top-tier paddle that offers a great balance of power and control. While it may come with a higher price tag, the performance benefits make it a worthwhile investment for serious pickleball players. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or just starting out, this paddle has the potential to elevate your game and help you reach new heights on the court.
